Mr. Baker has taught at Northridge for 9 years.  Before that he taught at Westview Jr-Sr. High School and South Bend Career Academy.  He teaches 8th grade US History on the Blue Team and coached 7th grade boys basketball for 8 years.  He also is the sponsor for the Raiders for Christ group at the middle school. He is the head baseball coach at Elkhart Christian Academy.  Outside of school he likes to spend time with his wife, Heather and their three kids Aleah, Colson and Bennett.  He enjoys reading, exercising, and volunteering with the Civics program at the middle school.

The class starts with a look at colonization in America, and works through the Revolutionary War and the struggles we faced with our first government.  We take a look at our Constitution and how the government is structured.  In quarter 3 we look at Westward expansion and the society at the time and in quarter 4 we end the year with the causes of the Civil War and the War itself in its entirety.
